 Vanguard economic and market update

Vanguard's key points:

  • The end of the year may herald more volatility in the money markets following the disruption two months ago.
  • In the year ahead, we don't foresee a significant reversal in trade tensions even if the US and China sign a "phase one" deal.
  • The pivot to looser monetary policy by central banks around the world will persist.
  • We expect the European Central Bank to leave policy broadly unchanged in 2020 under new President Christine Lagarde.

Investment risk information:

The value of investments, and the income from them, may fall or rise and investors may get back less than they invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
